How does Instagram pay creators?

Instagram does not pay every account a salary. The official tools, checked on 30 September 2026, are separate, and each one has its own follower number, age rule, and country list. You need a professional account, you need to be 18 or older, and you need to follow Meta's Partner Monetization Policies. A personal profile that has not switched to professional does not qualify.

Bonuses are invitation-only, and only in countries where Instagram is testing them. Instagram's bonus rules say it will not pay for branded content, for a post with a collaborator, or for a post you delete. Do not pay a stranger who offers to unlock a bonus.

• Gifts on Reels: at least 500 followers, plus a payout account. A collaborative post cannot earn Gifts.
• Subscriptions: at least 10,000 followers. Fans pay for content you put behind a subscription. Check Professional dashboard, then Set up subscriptions, if the option is there.
• Badges on Live: at least 10,000 followers. A viewer can spend up to $250 on badges in one Live. The badge lasts only for that Live.
• Your own product or service: no follower minimum. This works in countries where the tools above are closed.

Which countries are included?

On 30 September 2026, Instagram's Gifts list and Subscriptions list both included India, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Pakistan was on neither list. Bangladesh, Nigeria, and the United Arab Emirates were not on the Subscriptions list either. The lists are not the same for every tool, and Meta changes them. How much can a bigger Instagram account make?

Instagram does not publish what a large account earns. A creator with hundreds of thousands or millions of followers is usually paid by a brand for a post or a Reel, not by a set rate inside the app. Two public 2026 surveys do not even agree. Influencer Advisory, from its own deal records, put a typical mega account (1 million followers or more) around $18,000 for one post. A Gigapay roundup of other 2026 rate guides put one Reel from that size of account in a band of about $25,000 to $100,000. The same roundup also cites a much lower median, about $1,500 for a Reel, for accounts around 100,000 to 150,000 followers.

Treat those as examples of how wide the market is, not as your price. Niche, country, engagement, and whether the brand can reuse the video all move the fee. Many accounts at the same follower count earn nothing from brands. A screenshot of someone else's payout is not a quote. Agree the fee and the usage in writing, and label the post as a paid partnership. Instagram's own bonus program does not pay for branded posts.
