Do I need an app or a website?
Most beginners do not need an app first. A website can explain a service, take a message, and be found in search. An app earns its place when people repeat a job on the phone: a login, offline use, the camera, or a notification they must see.
Write the job in one sentence. If that sentence is "read this" or "contact us," build the site. If it is "open this every day and update a record," an app may be the product. The store listing comes after that decision, not before.
What a first version should include
One path a person can finish on a phone, including the usual failure, such as no network. Extra tabs, accounts, and payments can wait. Test on a real phone, not only a desktop preview.
Apple and Google publish the account price on their own sites. On 30 September 2026, the Apple Developer Program was 99 US dollars a year, and Google Play was a one-time 25 US dollars. A new personal Play account also needs a closed test with 12 testers for 14 days. A website both phones can open is a valid first launch.
